Discover What This Child Went Through Just To Get A Good Night's Sleep After Years

Tuesday, 4th July 2023 | Dr. Barry Miller, Pediatrician

Meet Paul, a 4-year-old toddler who hasn’t had proper sleep for a thousand days. His mom would usually see him at night playing or running around his room. As a result, the child’s brain deteriorated, and he suffered from epilepsy. His mother decided to consult a somnologist, commonly known as a sleep physician, to seek help.

Based on the test, he had a hyperactive brain that wouldn’t let him fall into a deeper sleep. The somnologist’s colleague suggested trying another method to treat his condition, and they went with it. One night, the mother was shocked to hear her son snoring and stayed by his side until morning. Paul could finally sleep for 8 hours straight without any interruption!

A botanist got fascinated when she heard that the main ingredient of the sleep treatment was produced by a plant. She traveled all the way to Kazakhstan to study the plant further and test its effects on herself. She finally reached this conclusion on this theory:

What Causes Our Mind To Stay Awake?

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that plays various roles in the brain, including regulating sleep. It has different effects on sleeping patterns depending on the area of the brain where it is released and its interaction with other neurotransmitters. For example, in the hypothalamus, dopamine can promote wakefulness and reduce drowsiness by stimulating the release of orexin and hypocretin neurons.

Continuous production of Dopamine plays a role in the regulation of the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), which is part of the brain that controls the circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is the body's internal clock that regulates when we feel awake and when we feel sleepy. Dopamine can interrupt the activity of the SCN and affect our sleep-wake cycle. The uncontrollable amount of Dopamine can decrease the levels of GABA in our heads.

Improving Sleeping Cycles and Patterns

The sleep-wake cycle is regulated by a delicate balance between different neurotransmitters, including gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and dopamine levels. These neurotransmitters work together to promote either sleep or wakefulness, depending on the specific needs of the person. When GABA levels are high and dopamine levels are low, the brain is in a state that promotes sleep. Conversely, when dopamine levels are high and GABA levels are low, the brain is in a state that promotes wakefulness.

The Sleep Foundation states that GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps to calm down the activity of neurons in the brain, promoting relaxation and sleep. GABA plays a crucial role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle, or circadian rhythm, by inhibiting the activity of wake-promoting neurons in the brain’s hypothalamus and promoting the activity of sleep-promoting neurons.

Dopamine, on the other hand, is a neurotransmitter that is involved in the regulation of motivation, reward, and arousal. Dopamine levels tend to be higher during wakefulness and lower during sleep. However, Dopamine also plays a role in the regulation of the sleep-wake cycle by influencing the activity of neurons that promote wakefulness.

Valerian Flower Can Help You Sleep Better

People in medieval times used this plant as a natural sedative in ancient Greece and Rome. Based on trials, deeper sleep can be achieved by inhaling Valerian essence using its two main ingredients: Valerenol and Valerianic acid.

When exposed to the Valerian flower or its extracts, Valerenol increases delta waves in the brain of the user. The result is that it prevents any interrupted sleep during the middle of the night, when it is the most difficult time to go back to sleep because the brain has already had a few minutes of rest.

According to Healthline, the essence of the Valerian flower, called Valerianic Acid, will boost the GABA levels that promote calmness and result in a deeper sleep. Valerian is an herb that has been traditionally used as a natural sleeping aid. Using the extract from its flower is well tolerated by the body, and it does not cause any adverse side effects.

The chemicals Valerenol and Valerianic acid will act as anti-anxiety agents for our brains. These compounds prevent excessive activity in the amygdala, a part of our mind responsible for stress and strong emotions. It works by limiting the 5-HT hormone production that may disrupt the sleep-wake cycle in our body. And it stimulates Melatonin production, known as the sleep hormone, which places your mind in a relaxed state, resulting in your brain starting to feel sleepy.

Broke Away from Insomnia in 7 Days

Day 1

Kenneth had insomnia and couldn’t have proper sleep, so he stays awake every night beside his wife, who is in deep slumber and could sleep straight for 8 hours. His wife felt bad about Kenneth’s situation. She remembered that her officemate had the same situation before. But she recalls that her co-worker mentioned Valerian essence, which helped her overcome her insomnia. She told her husband, and Kenneth gave it a try and used it before going to bed. After the first hour, Kenneth was able to fall asleep straight for 5 hours, according to his wife.

Day 4

As Kenneth kept using the Valerian essence regularly, his sleeping hours got longer every day. On his fourth day of using it, he was able to sleep for a full 7 hours. He also never gets disturbed easily when sleeping. His wife decided to increase the amount they use every night because she also felt relaxed by the scent and could easily fall asleep.

Day 7

After a week of daily use of the Valerian at night, they wake up well-rested the following morning. Both Kenneth and his wife never felt this good, waking up every day feeling refreshed and energized. Kenneth was very happy and bought a box of Valerian essence, which he never misses using every night.

Oh man, I just couldn’t explain how relieved I am to get a full rest every night. You know how it is when you have eight hours of sleep. It’s like all the pain in my body is gone because I got a full recovery overnight. This concentrated solution is just incredible.
